The science exhibition was held as the part of the 10 days summer camp organised and funded by Infineon Corporation and conducted by Anubhava Science Foundation. The program sessions included performing experiments, great opportunity for children to think and discuss, making toys etc.

The program was a great success because children got an opportunity to speak out and explain what they had understood through experiments, enjoyed the role of asking questions to the visitors and engaged in discussions with visitors. We appreciate Infineon volunteers to have taken their time off from their busy schedule and for their patience to visit each counter providing an opportunity for each child to discuss. Even during the classroom sessions, children were so involved that they refused to take the 15 mts break which we offered in our 2 and half hr sessions everyday and they wanted to extend the summer science program.

The learning during the exhibition event is a classic example for children's informal joyful learning and learning in a stress free environment.

3rd and 7th standard children of Bellandur government school had put up a science exhibition at Bellandur government school on 6th of march and similar science exhibition was conducted at Sorahunse government school on 12th march. The science exhibition was a culmination of the 3 month science program in the classroom from Anubhava Science Foundation (ASF). Intel Corporation supported Bellandur school to conduct this program.

7th std children exhibited around 35 experiments on topics like Light and Sound and 3rd std children had put up around 20 experiments on Air, Matter and Plants. The experiments were based on various concepts they learnt as part of their syllabus but had a focus on the application of these concepts in daily life helping them to understand better and appreciate the concept. The experiments and models were made from inexpensive and easily available materials.

The exhibition was different from the usual style that charts which was displayed for each experiment had questions and drawings leaving the complete scope for children to explain the phenomena. Children took the unusual role of asking questions and explaining with great confidence and spirits to each visitor. After the exhibition the common feedback from all children from both the schools was that "We felt very good. We are very happy, we were very scared before the exhibition. Now we can explain these topics to anybody we are not scared. We learnt how to teach these topics when we become teachers. We feel that we know Light and Sound very well. We will never forget this. All the other topics in science also should be taught through experiments like this as it will help us to understand better."

Teachers from other schools commented "“If we had not come today, we would have missed something. We are very happy that we could come. It would be nice if we can do such a science program in our schools also. This will help students and also us a lot.” They gave the school name and address for me to conduct such a program."

The experiments included various fundamental concepts demonstrating the phenomena’s like concept of air everywhere and its applications, different states of matter and their molecular arrangement, food, ingredients and its sources, stages of plants, how we see things, how we see things differently with concave and convex mirrors, differences between real and virtual images, applications of different type of mirrors in daily life, how we hear sound, how different instruments and toys producing sounds work and much more …

Block Resource Person Ms. Sulochana Bai attended the exhibition at Bellandur schools and was of the opinion that “"Light is a very tough topic which many of the teachers do not understand the concepts and these experiments should be demonstrated to all teachers as they are very simple and explains the concepts very well. If the concepts are presented like this anyone can understand.”"

Block resource Persons Mr. Shiv Kumar and Mr. Mahadev gowda attended the exhibition at Sorahunse government school. Mr Shiv kumar was of the opinion that “"the science exhibition organized by ASF created a platform for children to develop interest in science, not only that they also got an opportunity to explain what they have learnt which boosts their confidence and also helps to develop the skill of explaining. It also created a platform for teachers from other schools to participate encouraging them to implement in their schools as well.”"

All the 3 BRPs including the ECO Mr. Muniallappa and CRPs from all the 3 clusters were of the opinion that Anubhava training sessions should be conducted during the monthly meetings of teachers as it can reach out to more teachers.
