Vision
Anubhava Science Foundation aims to work towards strengthening science education in existing school system in India by
- making science learning joyous
- bridging the gap between learning science in classroom and experiencing science in daily life
- developing scientific thinking through experience and exploration
- helping build a conceptual base among children for science
Anubhava plans to do this in three ways:
- train teachers in partnership with the government to create a multiplier effect
- train facilitators at alternate informal learning environments in low income neighborhoods
- engage directly with a large number of schools with under-privileged children
In order to achieve the objectives, Anubhava has developed the following programs:
Anubhava Learning Sessions for children are designed to clear misconceptions and understand the role of science in
everyday events and build scientific temper in children through experiments, activities involving creating models
and making toys using low cost and locally available materials, creating problem solving situations, encouraging
observation and providing guidance.
Anubhava Facilitator Training Sessions are essential to empower teachers to strengthen their science teaching skills
not just on delivering content but also to inspire them to observe, analyse, enjoy and learn science in each of
their experiences. The facilitator training session focuses on:
- concept based science learning
- how simple phenomena around us can delve us into discussions on various science concepts that seem obvious
- how stimulating it is to learn in an exploration mode
- how simple experiments, activities or materials can make science learning very interesting and involving
Setting up an active science resource centre in every school
Anubhava will help each school to setup a science resource center. The materials at the resource center will be
from those used during Anubhava sessions and those developed by teachers and children during these sessions.
This ensures that teachers and students are not only aware of their centres resources but also take pride in
maintaining and building on them.
Organising Science Exhibitions in schools
Support schools to organize science exhibitions by children, teachers and invite the local community to create
awareness and involvement among all stakeholders of education.
Anubhava Science Resource Centre is a research and resource centre where children and teachers participate in
various science based programs.
