Team Members

Ms. Geetha Arvind

Geetha Arvind is an alumnus of IIT Bombay and has a Masters in Mathematics with specialization in Computer Science. Geetha started her professional career as a software engineer and has worked for 7 years in IT industry and quit her rewarding career in the booming software industry in India to pursue her vision and to be able to contribute in the field of children's education.

In 2003, Geetha took a risk quitting a rewarding career in the rising software industry in India to pursue my vision to change the way Science is being taught. She undertook Montessori diploma course, played a key role in designing and organizing an International Conference on Education hosted by The Art of Living in collaboration with UNESCO and INCCU including the release of Proceedings Book.

Three years of committed study and research in the education field helped her to drive the focus to ‘science education in the classroom’. She developed Anubhava Science Learning Model to address the critical issues prevalent in existing Science learning approaches.

Geetha has worked on understanding and developing novel methods in "Science education in mainstream schools" with a focus on issues related to learning that includes classroom environment, learning materials, method and curriculum.

In 2007, she set up Anubhava Science Center and designed programs to work with more than 200 children from elite schools. In order to bring large scale change by reaching all classes of society, With the support of her husband Arvind, She created Anubhava Science Foundation in 2008. Since then, she has executed a pilot program partnering with the Government of Karnataka covering 500 under privileged children and training 60 teachers.

Geetha has been a part of number of national and international conferences in various capacities as an active participant, organizer and speaker. In July 2007, She led a discussion on “Science Education in Mainstream Schools” at the Learning Network conference attended by senior educationists from leading institutions and alternative education practitioners. Recently, in October 2009, her paper on Anubhava Science Learning Model was accepted for the Science Congress and she was invited as a panelist and as a task force member for science education in India. Her articles on science education have also been published for several magazines. In Feb 2010, she led a discussion at the Learning Network conference on Quality Science Education - School Intervention and Strategies.

Currently directing Anubhava programs at government schools and science centre as well as serving as the Managing Trustee of ASF.

Volunteers

Ms. Pramila Shamachar

Pramila is an electronics and communication engineer from MVIT, Bangalore. She has worked in the IT Industry for over 8 years. She has a deep interest in Science and liking to involve herself in science based activities. She is associated with Anubhava Science Foundation as a volunteer.

Mr. Sriram V

Sriram, an Optical Probe Engineer with Intel India has been volunteering at the GMPS Bellandur since 2007. Has been instrumental in setting up a Computer Lab in the school and involving the school in various Intel Involved programs like getting the school kids participate in the 40th anniversary celebration at Intel India, organized the sports day event for the school children at Intel campus, imparted Computer training to the teachers and 7th class students of Bellandur GMPS, organized an excursion to the Nehru Planetarium and the science museum in Bangalore, got the school participate for the Kite flying Fest conducted along with Intel India Employees; just to name a few. Besides work Sriram is also a trained percussionist in the fine art of Mridangam.

Ms. Bhama Sridharan

Ms. Bhama Sridharan is working with Anubhava Science Foundation as a volunteer. She has M.E. in Computer Science from IISc Bangalore, MS in Computer Science from McGill University Canada. She has been working as a software consultant/engineer for various IT companies. She initiated the science club at IISc for children in the age group 5-13 years in 1999.

Mr. Harish Amur

Harish Amur has been involved with Anubhava Science Foundation as a volunteer. In addition, he is also assisting Dhwani Educational Resource Centre in various ways. Prior to this he worked for a software services organization for over 11 years. He holds a bachelors degree in engineering from National Institute of Technology (erstwhile REC), Durgapur.

Harish has voluntered in many activities of Anubhava projects along with building anubhava website, translation of material in english to kannada etc

Trustees

Mr. Arvind Brahmakal

Arvind Brahmakal is a Chartered and Cost Accountant. After qualification, he spent around 10 years in a multinational FMCG Company in varying capacities learning the breadth and depth of business and finance management. Currently, he is employed with IBM as General Manager – F&A Operations.

Arvind has a desire to make a significant contribution in the field of education. This led to the creation of Anubhava Science Foundation in 2008. Arvind is serving as the Founder trustee of ASF.

Mr. V. Shrinivasan

Mr. Shrinivasan is an Electronics & Communication Engineer. Right after his education he has joined Larsen & Toubro Limited and has served the company for 40 years holding various responsible positions like Head (R&D), Business Head (Communications & Embedded Systems) etc. in different centers at Mumbai, Chennai, Mysore and Bangalore. Currently Shrinivasan is serving as one of the trustees of ASF

Advisory Members - Technical

Prof. D. R. Balurgi

Prof. Baluragi is an accomplished writer and teacher in science, a person who dedicated several decades of his career in popularising science among teachers and students. He is now retired and is involved in several science based initiatives.

For his effort towards popularising science he was awarded by the National Council For Science & Technology Communication in 1991. The state government recognized his efforts in teaching and awarded 'Sri Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Award' in 1993.

Prof. Baluragi also headed the Karnataka State Vijnana Parishat, situated in Belgaum, for several years. He has written over 25 books on various topics of Science and was awarded the Kannada Sahitya Academy award for his book 'Sarala Vijnana Prayoga' in 1993.

Mr. Prakash Burte

Mr. Prakash Burte is a retired scientist from Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai. He associates with few groups working in the field of education and social work, conducts Workshops for science teachers and often contributes to Marathi news papers and periodicals on social issues, science popularisation, education, literature and performing arts.
